Rock of ages,
I do sing this song as I ask you to cleft for me then I try and try to do it alone. I do sing this song when I ask you to let me hide myself in thee then I try and try to fight alone.
Not the labour of my hands can fulfill Thy law’s demand; yet I try and try to labor by law forgetting that it is by grace alone.
It is hard. So hard to let go of that which I know even when I sing this song sure that You are my all in all.
My self-centered ways are so part of me that hardly do I notice when I am before You complaining when things go wrong and not even once in my praying for needs, do I ask for grace to do that which You require me to.
Nothing in my hand I bring, helpless, I look to Thee for grace. Simply to Thy Cross I cling, wash me Saviour or I die. Rock of ages cleft for me. Let me hide myself in Thee.
