Be Water.

As we were driving back home, there was a big lorry infront of us. My brother asked me whether I knew why lorries have such long mudguards. Other than sometimes reading the funny things written on them, I have never really thought about it.

He told me it’s so that they don’t splash mud on the vehicles behind. Then he asked, “why can’t human beings be like lorries?”

Unfortunately, we often fail to be like so. For one, as long us we are ahead, we care very little to place our mudguards and who the mud hits behind us is the least of our worries.

In situations where even as accommodating as we are, the mudguard doesn’t fit and we’re the ones receiving mud enough to build a house, let us pray to be like water that we may fit and flow through all the situations we come across.

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:3-4).

Like the tyre on the lorry. I loved how this has rolled out. On and on. Such a powerful reminder. That while we think ourselves to be ahead of others, let’s be so mindful as to not splash them with mud. I want to be water instead. Thanks Gita
