A Pocket Full of Sunshine.

“Hey?”
“Hey.”

“May I help you carry your bag?”
“No thanks, I can manage.”

“Are you sure? It looks heavy.”
“I’ve got it, thanks for offering though.”

“No worries, can I at least keep you company on your way?”
“Yeah, sure.”

“Where are you headed?”
“Up this road to my Father.”

“Oh, awesome! I can take you. I know the way.”
“How come?”
“I am the way.”
“You are funny…I could use your company.”

☜☆☞…so up this road to the Father they went. With every hill, the bag got heavier. Down the hills, the bag would almost snap and roll down before them.☜☆☞

“My body is getting really sore and my shoulders and back are too stiff. I think  I will rest a bit. You can go up ahead. Don’t let me stop you.”

“I won’t leave you, besides, it is getting dark and you need light.”

“Let me guess, you are the light?”
“Now look who’s being funny…it is actually life but even light, I am.”
“Okay I Am. I hear you.”

“We’ll move much swifter if you let me help you with the bag, you know.”
I can’t let you do that. It is my burden to bear.”

“What is in it?”
Mostly flaws, regrets, past mistakes…the like.” Stuff I should bear on my own since it is by my own doing that I got them.”

“Shame has a way of convincing you that your baggage is yours to carry and that your problem is yours to fix. Meanwhile, God is urging you to surrender all to Him so that He can bring you the simplicity and lightness that comes from walking with Him.”

“Sounds like a quote from a good read.”
“It is from a sermon by a good friend.”

“Do you have another one?”
“Yes. Almost similar.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.

“That is a really good one. It sounds like something you’d say.”
“I did and it’s true.”
“Let me guess, because you are the Truth?”
“Indeed.”

“Way. Life. Truth. It has a nice ring to it. A thank you doesn’t sound sufficient for your offer, but it’s all I have. Thank you.
“It is my pleasure.”

“Now all I feel like I am carrying is a pocket full of sunshine to sustain even the stormy days.”

This is a statement too familiar…. I hope we learn, I hope we let go, I hope we allow Him to take over.
